Dresses and suits in the Var

Our directory of dresses and suits in the Var is still being put together. In the meantime, the advice below will help you choose well.

Allow plenty of time

Between ordering, making and alterations, a wedding dress often takes several months. Start trying on dresses eight to twelve months ahead, earlier for a made-to-measure design. Made-to-measure suits also take several weeks to make.

Fabrics suited to the heat

For a midsummer wedding, choose light, breathable fabrics: linen, chiffon, crêpe, silk. A suit in linen or lightweight wool will be far more comfortable than a heavy fabric at an outdoor ceremony.

Think about the venue

A long train among the vines or on gravel, stiletto heels on the lawn: think about the ground at your venue. Bring a second, more comfortable pair of shoes for the evening.

Alterations

Allow two to three fittings for alterations, the last a few weeks before the wedding. Bring the shoes and underwear you will be wearing on the day.
